We want to offer you a place to stay amid Lappish handicraft, Nordic architecture, and values of sustainable travel.

From handcrafted fireplaces to textiles and artworks by Finnish artisans, every element tells a story. At Sunday Morning Resort, architecture blends seamlessly with its surroundings, allowing guests to feel the quiet beauty of Lapland both indoors and out. It is a place where time slows down, where design is rooted in nature, and where every moment feels like a Sunday morning.

The resort’s unique look was shaped by a local artist, Upi Kärri, and architect Antti Tähtinen, who envisioned a new and unique architectural design for Pyhätunturi. They introduced the use of Aihki-beams, which are large pine logs transformed into square timbers and boards, giving our buildings both strength and a distinctive character.

Among Kärri’s many creations is the iconic Kelokielo chandelier, crafted from hollow pine branches. Today, his designs continue to glow in the resort’s main lodge and lakeside sauna, linking every visitor to the spirit of Lapland’s forests.

The ever-changing light of the Arctic has always guided our design philosophy.

Wood and stone are the main materials, as they are ecological, enduring, and deeply connected to Finnish identity. The tones of our interiors echo Lapland’s contrasts: the deep blues of polar night, the soft brightness of midnight sun, and the warm glow of autumn’s ruska. The result is warm minimalism with a Northern twist; a design language that feels at once spacious, tranquil, and welcoming.
