The sense of peace in Lapland is something you notice the moment you arrive.
Built from hand-hewn old-growth pine logs, the Aihki Apartments are part of the original story of Sunday Morning Resort: a place where nature, timeless architecture and unhurried moments come together.
Each apartment offers around 90 square metres of space to relax and spend time together. On the ground floor, you'll find a bedroom for two, a cosy living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and a private sauna. The spacious sleeping loft adds three additional beds, making the apartments equally well suited for couples, families and small groups of friends.
The four apartments are located in two traditional log-built semi-detached houses within the peaceful grounds of Sunday Morning Resort, just a short walk from the Main Lodge. Here, the privacy of your own holiday home blends naturally with the Resort's services. Begin your morning with breakfast at the lodge, spend the day exploring Pyhä-Luosto National Park, and return to your apartment to unwind by the fire or enjoy the warmth of your private sauna.
In 2019, the kitchens, bathrooms and saunas were carefully renovated to provide modern comfort while preserving the character of the original interiors. Many distinctive details remain, including the original woven textiles, rugs and wall hangings created by Finnish textile artist Annikki Karvinen, which continue to shape the warm and authentic atmosphere of each apartment.
Even the smallest details tell a story. The two Aihki buildings are named Aslak and Uhtua, and each has its own distinctive tableware. In Aslak, guests dine from Arabia's Aslak collection, whose warm tones echo the colours of the northern autumn. In Uhtua, the Arabia Uhtua collection reflects the blues and soft greys of Lapland's lakes and skies. Designed by renowned Finnish designers Ulla Procopé and Inkeri Leivo, both collections are timeless examples of Finnish ceramic design.
The Aihki Apartments remain an important part of the resort, originally completed in 1990. Their hand-crafted log construction, locally created artwork and natural materials continue to reflect the traditions of northern Finnish craftsmanship. The same philosophy guides the resort today: modern comforts are designed to exist in harmony with the surrounding landscape, never in competition with it.
As the day slowly comes to an end, we hope you'll be left with the very feeling that inspired the name Sunday Morning Collection: the calm of a slow Sunday morning, and the wish that it could last just a little longer.
