Summer and Autumn Adventures in Finland’s Arctic Wonderland

When people think of Lapland, the first images that come to mind are snowy landscapes, Santa Claus, and the Northern Lights. But Lapland in summertime and autumn offers a completely different—yet equally magical—experience. From the golden glow of the midnight sun to the vibrant colors of “ruska” (autumn foliage), the region is a playground for nature lovers, adventurers, and anyone seeking peace in pristine wilderness. These activities are at their best from June to early October, when the weather is mild and the landscapes are alive with color and light.

1. Outdoor sports: Thrilling Adventures for All

Lapland’s vast wilderness and varied terrain make it a paradise for outdoor sports:

  • Mountain biking: There are many different cycling routes in Pyhä-Luosto that are suitable for both beginners and mountain bikers looking for a challenge! In connection with your reservation, you can reserve electrically assisted fat-bikes. Book here!

  • Horseback riding: A great summer adventure awaits — a horseback riding trip to the Soutaja fell, which consists of wonderful views, forest trails and great company. E.g. hour long excursion can be booked from June to September at: luckyranch.fi

  • Hiking or trail running: In Pyhä-Luosto National Park, one of Finland’s most breath-taking national park, you will find good trail networks with signposts and fire pits. Our accommodation is in close proximity to the national park, so nature experiences await at your door.

  • Rock climbing: In Pyhäkuru Adventure Park you can experience the thrills of rock climbing and zip-lining through their adventurous route - see more at https://www.pyhakuru.fi/en

  • Disc golfing: A route set in the top of Pyhätunturi, you can enjoy scenic routes while playing disc golf with your friends or family.

  • Water sports, such as kayaking, swimming or SUP boarding: We are located in Pyhäjärvi's wonderful lakeside area that offers the opportunities for independent SUP boarding, rowing and kayaking trips - you can rent the equipment directly from us!

  • Visiting the local husky farm during the Summer or Autumn is a great way to experience meeting these most loyal of our companions. You can ride a summer sleigh and pet the huskies without the crowds of the Winter season. Book your experience from here!
